About the Internet of Things
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a hot topic in the technology world, but what exactly is it all about?
Everything will be connected
If the Internet of Things is ever fully implemented, all of our gadgets will be connected to each other. This means that your alarm clock will “tell” your coffee machine when you’re awake, and your home will “know” when you’re returning from work because of the location of your cell phone.
Your order will be ready the minute you walk in
It is predicted that most food/beverage establishments will have sensors put in to detect when you arrive, and based on your usual order will have that ready to go before you even walk up to get in line. You’ll be able to approve and pay for your order on your cell phone, and can change your order if necessary.
Your fridge will take inventory
Fridges will be equipped to take inventory of their contents, and let you know when an item is expired or running low. Along with “smart” fridges, gym machines will know your routine, hotel rooms will “know” your temperature preferences and your home will be lit by the time you return from work.
What do you think about IoT?
